Dawn Cheong – Theatre Practitioner
Dawn Cheong holds a Bachelors degree in Acting from Toi Whakaari the National School of Dance and Drama New Zealand and has come back to Malaysia to pursue her career in theatre and acting. She has been exposed to the world of acting; mostimportantly to the world of collaborative work and devise theatre.

With the guidance of Jade Eriksen and Christian Penny, Dawn decided to head towards a more organic way of storytelling and creating original work. In 2012 she handed a play to the Adam New Zealand Play Award and won runner up for best play, best play by a woman playwright and was chosen to represent New Zealand by Play Press for the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for her play Remnants of the Silk Makers Ghost. While Dawn continues to finish her script for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, she accidentally fell into film and television, her first feature film ‘Cuak’ will come out later this year.
